Welcome Spring! The end of the school year brings about many exciting events for students! As we begin to approach midterm of the 4th quarter we encourage our students and staff to persevere to the end and Finish Strong!! Students have accomplished many great things throughout the school year and they are letting up now!
Our Friends of Rachel (FOR) Club has been actively involved in continuing to spread the message from the Rachel’s Challenge assembly that was held earlier this school year. They have been involved in a couple of community service projects this month. On April 17th they placed pinwheels outside the front doors in recognition and prevention of child abuse in Utah. On April 21st they visited the Peach Tree Center and delivered painted flower pots. Students have also been involved in activities that promote kindness, validating others, giving and honesty. We are so proud of all the wonderful things that our students have been involved in making Rocky Mountain Junior High a positive place to be!
Students and teachers have been working hard to improve and have made amazing progress! In a comparison of 3rd quarter failing grades from 2013-2016 we have seen a 62% decrease! In 2013 there were 399 failing grades 3rd quarter, this year there were only 150! Through Professional Learning Communities our math and English departments have worked to align their curriculum, identify target standards and develop common assessments to improve student mastery. During FLEX time the teachers provide re-teaching and interventions to ensure students understand and master the target standards. Students are achieving at higher levels and are truly mastering content. Way to go GRIZZLIES!!
