- Academics
- 50% proficiency on RISE testing or a 5% improvement each year ASPIRE scores
- 44% will earn a predicted score of 18 or higher or increase by 5% each year
- (literacy & numeracy focus)
- How we are addressing these goals currently
- Data was reviewed from the 2023 testing, where our school falls in ranking with similar schools, dissatisfaction with the ranking and testing scores was discussed by all members. Reference to Hooper elementary and the push for testing had good suggestions and shows students are capable of better scores. Rocky is advocating for students to care about their own learning growth scores. We are tracking goals and growth in Den time as well as in core classes. Junior high behavior does play a role in students’ efforts at school and on tests. A discussion on the change in the Honors program for 7th and 8th grade was also discussed. Honors classes for 7th and 8th grade were removed. The change aligns with Mountain View Junior High as well so the vertical alignment within our new cone meets the cone wide goals and improvement plans. Other junior highs are also moving away from honors classes in 7th and 8th grade, such as Orion Junior High and South Ogden Junior High. Quincey discussed how research shows heterogeneous classes at those grade levels are more beneficial for student learning and growth. Rocky also had data showing growth in level 4 proficient students was much higher than those in an honors class.
- Current efforts at meeting growth goals includes a literacy focus school wide in Den Time, Core Essentials pilot class for 8th graders for ½ of the school year, advocates who work on grades and attendance and behavior with students, as well as prep periods aligned with at least one other member of the same department. Wednesday Early Out time is left entirely to teachers to meet and PLC. Faculty meetings/department meetings will occur prior to the start of school.
- Attendance
- Proposed Amendments - align goals with School Improvement Plan with Elevate 28
- With the multiple changes in the school demographics, size, and the new Elevate 28 plan, Quincey proposed changing the goals in the Trust Lands plan to match the goals in Elevate 28 as they align more directly with current testing data at Rocky. Cindy P seconded the proposal and all voted in favor of the amendment(s).
